Account management

InstaSpin Close Account

Break, time out, self-exclusion or permanent closure. Here you will find how to take each step and what to expect.

Time out

Short break from 24 hours to 6 weeks with no permanent consequences for your account.

Cooldown

24 hours without logging in to prevent impulsive decisions.

Self-exclusion

Minimum 6 months, account remains closed and cannot be reopened early.

Permanent closure

Permanent closure with data archived in line with legal retention requirements.

Which option suits you

Not every reason to pause or close an account is the same. Sometimes you just need a short rest; sometimes you want to stop for good. InstaSpin offers four different options, each serving a different purpose.

Cooldown period

The cooldown is the lightest option and lasts 24 hours. You cannot log in or make deposits or bets during this time. It acts as a short pause button when you notice a session is getting out of hand.

Time out

The time out is a longer break of one week, two weeks or six weeks. You have no access to your account during this period and any active bonuses are frozen. Useful when you want a holiday from playing.

Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion is the strongest internal tool and applies for a minimum of six months, with options up to five years or permanently. During self-exclusion your account is fully closed and you cannot open a new account under the same details. Self-exclusion cannot be lifted early.

"The barrier to asking for help is often higher than the barrier to simply stopping. Both choices deserve respect."

Permanent account closure

To permanently close your account outside of self-exclusion, send a request to support@instaspin.live with your account details and reason. The account will be closed within five working days. Your data is retained for seven years in line with legal requirements.

Before you close: request a withdrawal

An important practical step. Request a withdrawal of your available balance before closing the account. Bonus funds and winnings from active wagering requirements are forfeited on closure.

GamStop as an additional step

Self-excluding at InstaSpin does not automatically exclude you from other operators. For broader protection across all UK-licensed gambling sites, GamStop is the central tool. Registration is free and takes immediate effect via gamstop.co.uk. Responsible Gambling.

Step-by-step guide

To activate any of the above options, follow the steps below. Cooldown and time out are managed via your account; self-exclusion and permanent closure require a written request.

    Log in to your account

Go to instaspin.live and use your usual login credentials.

  2. 2

    Navigate to settings

Click your profile icon in the top right and choose Responsible Gambling.

  3. 3

    Choose the desired option

Cooldown, time out or self-exclusion with the appropriate duration.

  4. 4

    Confirm your choice

For self-exclusion a confirmation e-mail follows to validate your decision.

  5. 5

    Request a withdrawal

Do this before closure for maximum control over your balance.

Closing your account calmly

Shutting an account is more than pressing a button. Withdraw any remaining balance first, let live bets settle and check whether free spins or bonus funds are still active. Only then send your closure request. This sequence prevents you from chasing the operator's support team weeks later to release a forgotten payout or to clarify why a balance was wagered automatically during the wind down.

Always keep a copy of your written request and the operator's confirmation. These records become useful if you later raise a complaint with the Gambling Commission, with an alternative dispute resolution body or simply with the operator itself. Send the message from the email address registered to the account so the identity check can complete without unnecessary back and forth.

If you cannot decide between a short pause and a permanent closure, start with a seven or thirty day cool off. During that window you will feel whether the urge fades or grows stronger. A calmer mind suggests the longer route is right. A rising sense of pressure is a sign to speak with GamCare or your GP before reopening the account.

Data, marketing and payment hygiene

Closure does not erase your data immediately. Operators must retain transactional records for several years under anti money laundering law. Marketing communication, however, can stop right away. Ask explicitly for newsletters, SMS and push notifications to be switched off and verify after a week that the silence has actually arrived. Many brands keep marketing consent on a separate switch from account status.

Remove stored payment methods as well. Delete card details from the cashier, cancel recurring authorisations and revoke the operator inside your e wallet's connected apps. These small steps prevent a future absent minded login on another device from turning into another deposit. Treat the account closure as a holistic exit, not only a database flag inside the operator's back office.

Financial housekeeping after closing

A real exit starts inside your bank rather than inside the operator's database. Set a weekly five minute reminder to scan your current account for any gambling related charges. Most UK banks now offer a built in gambling block in the app; turn it on the same day you request closure. Monzo, Starling, Barclays, Lloyds and NatWest all support this feature, sometimes with a 48 hour cool off before it can be lifted again.

Payment intermediaries hold their own list of trusted recipients. Open PayPal, Skrill, Apple Pay and Google Pay, then remove the operator manually. These small administrative gestures close back doors that addiction can otherwise reopen on a weak evening. Take a screenshot of the cleared list and keep it in the same folder as the closure confirmation email so the whole exit lives in one place that a friend or partner can review with you.

Finally, log every recurring authorisation. Some platforms convert a deposit method into a stored token that can be reused months later without entering the card number again. Cancel that token explicitly in writing. Ask for a confirmation reply that names the operator, the token reference and the date of removal. This evidence will matter if a charge unexpectedly reappears and you need to challenge it under your bank's chargeback policy.

Building new routines in the first ninety days

The first three months are the most fragile period. Build a small daily ritual that retrains your brain. Write one line of gratitude and one line of reflection every evening. It sounds slight, but the reward system slowly learns that satisfaction does not require a spinning reel. Pair this with a weekly walk in a familiar place; consistent low intensity exposure to calm environments outperforms grand resolutions that fade after week two.

Schedule social activity in the slots that used to belong to gambling. If Friday night was the high risk window, book a regular dinner, a sports class or a film with a friend. Replacing the trigger window with a different commitment is more effective than relying on willpower alone. After ninety days these new habits begin to feel natural and the old slot returns to the background where it belongs rather than dominating your week.
